Ian Poulter is an English golfer who is ranked 22nd in the world. In an interview for the March issue of the UK version of Golf World magazine he reportedly said:
" The trouble is I don't rate anyone else. Don't get me wrong, I respect everyone who is a professional. But the problem is I haven't played to my full potential yet. And when that happens it will just be me and Tiger."
This comment has caused much merriment around the golf world. Lots of comments everywhere.
Lets take a look at Ian shall we?
Uh huh.
Now let's look at Tiger.
If you had to guess, just based on clothing choices, who would you pick as #1 in the world?
Ian Poulter's choice of attire says 'I am here to play so you can watch me. Doesn't much matter if I win or not.'
Tigers choice of attire says 'I am here to WIN. I don't much care if you watch or not'.
It is an old cliche but a true one - Clothes make the man. Mr. Poulter may be a very fine golfer, but he is not going to get up to even number 20th in the world without a major wardrobe overhaul, and an attitude adjustment to go with it.
PS. Mr. Poulter also posed for a picture for the article wearing nothing, and holding a strategically placed golf bag (I decided not to subject you to that particular image). One can hope that the reason for this is that he has indeed tossed the wardrobe, and just hadn't had time to replace it yet.
PPS. No Mr. Poulter is not some young kid who may be excused for having a certain youthful exuberance. He is the same age as Tiger.
